Music in The Plains

We are very excited to announce that The Plains Community League will be hosting an afternoon of Music in The Plains, Virginia on Saturday October 5th.

The set up for this festive day will be pretty unique.. instead of just having one stage, our three main restaurants in town will act as a sort of mini stage for each group's forty-five minute set. The grand finale will take place on the porch of The John Page Turner House, home of The Plains Community League, where NoVa Voce the Wakefield Upper School's a cappella singing group will perform the last set of the day.

We are also thrilled to say that all of our art studios in town, Youngblood, Zig Zag, Stuart Street Atelier, Little River Gallery, Dwell, as well as Baileywyck Antiques will be participating in the day's events by hosting open houses acting as an art walk that you can enjoy as you move from stage to stage. Please take some time during the day to wander around town and check out our amazing artists and their studios in between sets or whenever.

Thanks to our own local artist, Sue Braswell, who is working on a map & guide for the day and Silas Plum for producing our first poster to officially announce Music in The Plains Day. He has been kind enough to donate the original to act as a fundraiser for The Plains Community League. Members will be selling raffle tickets for the piece throughout the day. The name of the winner will be drawn just before Nova Voce's set on the porch of The Community House. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent for this community event!

Schedule of events:

1:30 pm - The Front Porch: Kid Sister - a local band hailing from Broad Run Virginia.. a power pop band playing all sorts of covers songs across the ages.

2:45 pm - The Rail Stop: Brothers Another- a bluegrassesque trio put together by Rappahannock's very own Jonathan Marquisee.. Jonathan a former banjo player for local favorites, The Gold Top County Ramblers.

4:15 pm - Girasole: Jiamie Pyles - an original, country, americana roots with a twist of reggae, back porch kind of sound... fingers crossed Henry Rust will be joining in. Word on the street is that another very special guest may make an appearance as well.

5:30 pm - The John Page Turner Community House (across from The Plains Market & Gas station on main street): NoVa Voce - Wakefield Schools esteemed upper school a cappella singing ensemble.

A quick note: there will not be a rain date for this event.

A final message to say thank you to so many of our local businesses who have so graciously helped sponsor this event with The Plains Community League.
