A Scholarship Winner Close to our Hearts

Nathalie Arellano

Nathalie began attending The Plains Community League tutoring program as an elementary student in 2016.  Over the years the tutors, staff and board members have seen her mature in so many ways.  From being a student, she transitioned into becoming a tutor.  Her patience and positive personality made her a great mentor to students in our program.  Over the years she volunteered in many ways-from helping to hide easter eggs to running games at our Ice Cream social.  She volunteered at our first “Summer Break” mini program in 2022, helping young children with crafts and games.  In the summer of 2023, we held our first full day Summer Camp and Nathaly was hired as Erica’s assistant.  She was Erica’s right arm and helped make our inaugural Summer Program a resounding success.

In addition to volunteering for TPCL, Nathalie was basketball manager for FHS her Sophomore and Junior year, has volunteered at her church since 8th grade, and worked at the Rail Stop restaurant in The Plains for three years.  During her senior year, Nathaly completed the nursing aid program.  This summer she is working at Fauquier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Nathalie has achieved well in high school and has been accepted to Virginia Tech for college, but has chosen to attend Laurel Ridge Community College to be fiscally responsible.
